ANZ Base Protect - Contents and Motor Vehicle provides affordable cover for your possessions.
If you're flatting or living away from home, chances are you won't have a whole house load of stuff to insure. You don't want all the bells and whistles – you just need simple, affordable cover for the things you have.
How it works
ANZ Base Protect – Contents and Motor Vehicle provides affordable cover for your possessions. Simply choose the amount of cover you need and we'll pay the present–day value up to your chosen sum insured for any items that are accidentally lost or damaged.
Product information
Insurable items
This cover includes items like your computer, laptop, bicycle, mobile phone and camera.
Temporary accommodation cover
If you're unable to live in your home after you've made a contents claim (for example if there was a fire) we'll cover the reasonable cost of temporary accommodation.
Liability cover
Your policy also includes liability protection for up to $1 million if you cause accidental damage to someone else's property. This includes your liability as a tenant.

If you're living in a university hostel or boarding school, your parents' ANZ Asset Protector – Contents may be able to be extended to cover your possessions for free:

Third party fire and theft policy
Your car is insured for its current market value if it suffers accidental loss or damage due to fire or theft. Your legal liability is also covered for up to $20 million plus legal costs if you accidentally damage someone else's property.
You'll also get uninsured motorist protection of up to $3,000 if you're involved in an accident if the other party is identified and proven to be at fault.
Third party only policy
Our third party only policy is also ideal for lower-value vehicles and offers cover for your legal liability for up to $20 million if you accidentally damage someone else's property.

Roadside assistance
Cover can be extended to include roadside assistance, a vehicle–specific 24–hour "rescue service" to help with breakdowns, empty fuel tanks, flat tyres and batteries and other roadside problems.

What's more, if you take up two or more specific insurance policies with us - any mix of home buildings, contents or motor vehicle - you'll save on your premium.
