ANZ Mobile Phone Banking gives you round-the-clock access to selected ANZ accounts from your mobile phone. You can choose to use ANZ TXT Banking, ANZ M-Banking or both, to keep track of your money 24/7.
What can I do with TXT Banking?
With TXT Banking you can request up-to-date account balances and mini statements on up to three accounts. Mini statements will show the last five to seven transactions on that account. If you'd like to be able to do more with your mobile phone, check out M-Banking as well.
What can I do with M-Banking?
M-Banking offers more functionality than TXT Banking. You can request up-to-date account balances and mini statements, transfer money between your accounts, make one off payments using Pay Anyone, set up Account Alerts, check your account numbers and change your M-Banking password.
Who can use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking?
To use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking you must be:
an ANZ customer
have a ANZ Phone Direct or ANZ Internet Banking registration number
over 15 years old*.
If you're not already an ANZ customer, you can set up an account at ANZ branch.
*Children aged between seven and 15 can use ANZ Mobile Banking with a parent or guardian's permission (parents so consenting will need to sign the indemnity form relating to minors under 15). Children under seven cannot use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking.
Can businesses use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking?
Yes. ANZ Mobile Phone Banking is available to ANZ personal, business, corporate and rural customers.
Can children use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking?

Can I use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking on more than one phone?

Can I use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking 365 days of the year?
Of course. But remember that any payments you make on weekends or public holidays are subject to normal account timing restrictions.
How many accounts can I access using ANZ Mobile Phone Banking?
You can register up to three of your ANZ accounts for TXT Banking, and up to ten accounts for M-Banking. If you register for both TXT Banking and M-Banking, your three TXT Banking accounts will also be your first three M-Banking accounts, meaning you can access up to ten accounts in total.
Can I access any kind of account using ANZ Mobile Phone Banking?
You will be able to access most kinds of accounts using ANZ Mobile Phone Banking. However, not all ANZ Mobile Phone Banking services are available for term deposit, home loan or credit card accounts.
What happens if I close one of my ANZ Mobile Phone Banking accounts?
This account will show in your list of accounts as unavailable.
Can I use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking overseas?
No. So far, ANZ Mobile Phone Banking is only available within New Zealand.

Can I use my current phone for M-Banking?
To be able to use M-Banking your mobile phone must be Java-enabled. If you're unsure, check our online list of compatible phones at anz.co.nz, or call us on 0800 ANZ MOBI.
How do I find out the make and model of my phone?
For most mobile phones, you can find out the make and model in the "settings" menu, under "phone info". If you're still having trouble finding this information, try removing your phone battery and checking the sticker underneath.
What exactly is Java?
Java is the programming language that has been used to build the M-Banking programme.
What if I my phone isn't Java-enabled?
You can still check your account balances and receive mini statements using TXT Banking.
How much memory do I need to run M-Banking?
You'll need at least 69Kb of available memory on your mobile phone.
Where is M-Banking stored on my phone?
Where the M-Banking application is stored will depend on the make and model of your handset. For more information, please see our online list of compatible phones at anz.co.nz.
What if I delete the M-Banking application from my phone?
Simply call 0800 ANZ MOBI, or visit any ANZ branch, and we'll resend you the download link along with a new activation code.
What if I get a new phone?
If you change your handset you'll need to let us know so we can re-programme your M-Banking access. Call us on 0800 ANZ MOBI.
What if I change my mobile phone number?
If you change your mobile phone number you'll need to let us know. Call us on 0800 ANZ MOBI.
You can register for ANZ Mobile Phone Banking by calling 0800 ANZ MOBI, or by visiting any ANZ branch. You'll need to have an ANZ Phone Direct or ANZ Internet Banking Customer Registration Number. If you are not already registered for ANZ Phone Direct or ANZ Internet Banking, we'll sign you up when you call.
Can I use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking even if I don't use ANZ Phone Direct?
You must be registered for ANZ Phone Direct before you can register for ANZ Mobile Phone Banking.
What if my account requires two or more signatories?
You can still use TXT Banking and/or M-Banking. However you won't be able to make transfers between your accounts, or make Pay Anyone payments.
Do my access permissions in ANZ Phone Direct and ANZ Internet Banking also apply to ANZ Mobile Phone Banking?
Yes. You will have the same access to your account(s) using ANZ Mobile Phone Banking that you have in phone and internet banking.

No matter what the reason, simply call 0800 ANZ MOBI for a new activation code, or visit any ANZ branch.
Will my activation code expire?
Your activation code is valid for five days. If you don't use it during this time it will expire. If this happens, just call us on 0800 ANZ MOBI, or visit any ANZ branch, for a new activation code.
What if I enter the wrong activation code?
You have three chances to enter your activation code. If you get it wrong on the third attempt your ANZ Mobile Phone Banking access will be suspended. If that happens you'll need to call 0800 ANZ MOBI, or come into any ANZ branch, to get a new activation code.
What if I've lost or forgotten my activation code?
Simply call 0800 ANZ MOBI, or visit any ANZ branch, and we'll resend you a text message along with a new activation code.
Can anyone else use my activation code on their phone?
No. Your activation code is only valid when it's used with the phone number you registered for ANZ Mobile Phone Banking.
How long does it take to download M-Banking?
The time it takes to download M-Banking will vary from phone to phone, but it shouldn't take more than 60 seconds.
What if I delete the download link from my phone?
Simply call 0800 ANZ MOBI, or visit any ANZ branch, and we'll resend you the download link along with a new activation code.
Simply text BAL to 880 to get your account balances.
Are account balances in real time?
Yes. All account balances are in 'real time' which means that they take into account all transactions made in and out of your account, right up to the time you request your account balance. Remember though, that any transactions made after 10.30 pm will not be processed until the next business day.
How do I know if my account balance is in debit or credit?
If your account is in debit a "" sign will appear after the account balance. If it is in credit, no sign will appear after the account balance.
How long does it take to get an account balance using TXT Banking?
You should get a response almost immediately after you text your account balance request. There may be short delays when network usage is higher than usual.
Simply text STMT 1, STMT 2 or STMT 3 to 880 to get a mini statement for any of your three accounts.
Are mini statement transactions in real time?
Yes. All mini statements are in 'real time' which means that they take into account all transactions made out of and into your account, right up to the time you request your account balance. Remember though, that any transactions made after 10.30 pm will not be processed until the next business day.
How do I know if a transaction is a debit or a credit in the mini statement?
A debit sign ("") will appear after each withdrawal from your account. A credit sign ("+") will appear after each deposit into your account.
How many transactions will I see on my mini statement?
For TXT Banking, your mini statement will show your current account balance, plus the last five to seven transactions for that account. The exact number will depend on the make and model of your handset as well as the size of the transactions and balances shown.
For M-Banking, your mini-statement will show your last ten transactions for that account.
How long does it take to get a mini statement using TXT Banking?
You should get a response almost immediately after you text your mini statement request. There may be short delays when network usage is higher than usual.
You can transfer up to $99,999.99 per transaction. There is no daily maximum, which means you can make as many transfers as you need.
Are transfers between my accounts instant?
If you transfer money between your accounts before 10.30pm on a business day, your account will be updated on the same day. If you transfer money between your accounts after 10.30pm on a business day, or at anytime on a non-business day, your account will be updated on the next business day.
Can I set up a transfer for a future date?
No. All transfers made using M-Banking are immediate.
How do I enter dollar amounts?
To transfer money between accounts, simply enter the dollars and cents as one number. You don't have to include a decimal point M-Banking will do this for you.

How will I know that a transfer was successful?
Once a transfer has been made you'll receive a confirmation message ("Your payment was successful") plus a 4-digit reference number.
Can I transfer money to my credit card using M-Banking?
No. You cannot make transfers to or from your ANZ credit card account using M-Banking. You can transfer money to your credit card using internet or phone banking, ATMs or at any ANZ branch.
Can I transfer money to my home loan using M-Banking?
No. You cannot make transfers to or from your ANZ home loan account using M-Banking. You can transfer money to your ANZ floating rate home loan using internet or phone banking, ATMs or at any ANZ branch.
Can I transfer money to my term deposit using M-Banking?
No. You cannot make transfers to or from your ANZ term deposit account using M-Banking.
What information will appear on my bank statement?
If you transfer money between your accounts, your statement will say:
You can make a Pay Anyone payment to any other personal or business bank account in New Zealand.
Can I make international payments using Pay Anyone?
No. If you want to transfer money to an overseas account, you can do this at any ANZ branch.
How much can I pay using Pay Anyone?
You can choose a daily Pay Anyone limit of nil ($0), $1000, $5000 or $10,000. The limit you choose is the most you can transfer in total on any one day using Pay Anyone.
How do I change my Pay Anyone limit?
To change your daily Pay Anyone limit, call 0800 ANZ MOBI, or visit any ANZ branch.
Are Pay Anyone payments instant?
If you make a Pay Anyone payment before 10.30pm on a business day, your account will be updated on the same day. If you make a Pay Anyone payment after 10.30pm on a business day, or at anytime on a non-business day, your account will be updated on the business day after processing.
Can I set up a Pay Anyone payment for a future date?
No. All Pay Anyone payments made using M-Banking are immediate.
Can I make Bill Payments using M-Banking?
No. At the moment you can only transfer money between your accounts and make Pay Anyone Payments. You cannot pay regular bills such as phone, power or insurance.
What if I don't want to use Pay Anyone?
If you want to disable the Pay Anyone function on your phone, simply choose a daily limit of 'nil' ($0).
How do I enter dollar amounts?
To make a Pay Anyone payment, simply enter the dollars and cents as one number. You don't have to include a decimal point M-Banking will do this for you.

How will I know that a Pay Anyone payment was successful?
Once a Pay Anyone payment has been made you'll receive a confirmation message ("Your payment was successful") plus a 4-digit reference number.
What happens if I'm cut off when I'm making a Pay Anyone payment?
If you're part way through a Pay Anyone payment and your battery goes flat, you lose reception, are cut off for any other reason and you haven't yet received a confirmation message, your payment may not have been successful. However, before you repeat the payment, we recommend that you call 0800 ANZ MOBI or visit an ANZ branch to make sure.
What if I make a mistake when I make a Pay Anyone payment?
You cannot undo a Pay Anyone payment once you've clicked 'submit'. If you've made a payment to the wrong account or accidentally paid too much, please call 0800 ANZ MOBI, or contact any ANZ branch, as soon as possible.
Can I save the details of my regular Pay Anyone payees?
Yes. You can save the name and the account number of a person you have just paid using the 'favourites' function. That way you won't have to re-enter their details every time you pay them.
Will my 'favourites' be saved in ANZ Phone Direct or ANZ Internet Banking as well?
No. The 'favourites' you save in ANZ Mobile Phone Banking won't automatically be saved into your ANZ Internet Banking favourites.
Why can't I make a Pay Anyone payment?
You may not be able to use Pay Anyone is if your account requires two or more signatories to authorise a transaction, or you have insufficient cleared funds. To be able to make Pay Anyone payments using ANZ Mobile Phone Banking you must first have registered for Pay Anyone access on ANZ Phone Direct or ANZ Internet Banking. If you haven't already done this, call ANZ Phone Direct on 0800 103 123 to register for Pay Anyone.
What information will appear on my bank statement?
If you make a Pay Anyone payment, your statement will say:
You can set up as many Account Alerts as you like. Remember though, that you will be charged 25 cents for each Account Alert you receive.
Can I set up an Account Alert for any day of the month?
You can set up an Account Alert for any day from the 1st to the 28th of each month. However, you cannot set up an Account Alert for the 29th, 30th or 31st of any month, as not all months have these days.
Can I set up an Account Alert for any time of the day?
You can set up Account Alerts for any hour of the day, as long as it is on the hour (1pm, 2pm, 3pm, etc). You cannot set up Account Alerts for times that are between the hours, like 2.30 or 1.45.
How do I enter times?
You'll need to use the 24-hour clock to set up an Account Alert. You don't need to enter a decimal point, however, as M-Banking will do this for you. For example, for 8.00 am, enter '0800'; for midday, enter '1200'; for 4.00pm, enter '1600'. Remember that you can only set up alerts on the hour.
Absolutely. ANZ M-Banking uses 128-bit encryption to code all information as its exchanged, meaning it offers the same high level of security as ANZ Internet Banking. In a way, M-Banking is even more secure than online banking, as you can only access your accounts when you have your password and your mobile phone (as no-one can access your account information from any other handset.)
How should I choose an M-Banking password?
As with any password, your M-Banking password should be easy to remember, but not obvious to others. Do not use a password based on easily accessible personal information like birth dates or phone numbers.
Your M-Banking password must be between 7 and 16 digits (numbers) long. It cannot include:
any letters or 'special characters' (eg. ! ? , . & @ *)
more than three sequential numbers (eg. 1234 or 4321)
more than three of the same number consecutively (eg. 1111 or 9999).
How do I change my M-Banking password?
Log onto M-Banking and choose "Other" from the main menu. Then select the Change Password option and follow the instructions on the screen.
What if I enter an incorrect password?
You have three chances to enter your password. If you get it wrong on the third attempt your ANZ Mobile Phone Banking access will be suspended. To re-activate ANZ Mobile Phone Banking you'll need to call 0800 ANZ MOBI, or come into any ANZ branch, to get a new activation code.
What should I do if I lose my phone?
If you lose your phone and would like to suspend your TXT Banking or M-Banking access, please call us on 0800 ANZ MOBI or visit any ANZ branch.
What should I do if my phone is stolen?
If your phone is stolen we recommend that you suspend your TXT Banking or M-Banking access. To do this please call us on 0800 ANZ MOBI or visit any ANZ branch
Can someone else report my phone lost or stolen?
Yes. For your security, we will suspend your ANZ Mobile Phone Banking service as soon as anyone reports your phone lost or stolen. Please note that you will continue to be charged while your service is suspended.
Setting up or changing an Account Alert is free if you do it yourself from the M-Banking menu. There is a $5 charge for each Account Alert if we do it for you (ie. if you call 0800 ANZ MOBI or ask at an ANZ branch).
Are Pay Anyone payments free?
Yes. You dont pay any extra to make a Pay Anyone payment. Normal account transaction fees apply.
Does it cost more to have both TXT Banking and M-Banking?
No. The monthly fee for ANZ Mobile Phone Banking is $2.00, whether you have TXT Banking, M-Banking or both.
Is ANZ Mobile Phone Banking included in the ANZ Everyday Account $5 fee?
No. All ANZ Mobile Phone Banking fees are additional to the ANZ Everyday Account monthly $5 fee. Please see the ANZ Mobile Phone Banking brochure for full pricing information.
How do I pay my ANZ Mobile Phone Banking fees?
All ANZ Mobile Phone Banking fees are automatically deducted from your 'billing account'. Your billing account is the first account listed when you access TXT Banking or M-Banking.
What happens if I close my billing account?
If you close this account you will no longer be able to use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking.
Can I change my billing account?
Yes. You can change your billing account at any time by calling 0800 ANZ MOBI, or visiting any ANZ branch. If you close your billing account, you will no longer be able to use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking.
Will I still be charged the $2 monthly fee if I stop using ANZ Mobile Phone Banking?
Yes. You need to contact us to de-register from ANZ Mobile Phone Banking if you no longer wish to use the service.
Will I still be charged Account Alert fees if I stop using ANZ Mobile Phone Banking?
If you de-register from ANZ Mobile Phone Banking you will be charged for all Account Alerts you have received so far during the billing cycle. You wont be charged for any Account Alerts that were scheduled for later in your billing cycle.
Can I use ANZ Mobile Phone Banking on all networks?
ANZ Mobile Phone Banking will work on all New Zealand mobile phone networks, including Telecom, Vodafone and Telstra Clear.
What will I be charged?
TXT Banking - you will be charged the normal text fee (currently 20 cents) by your network provider. This charge is not part of any free plans or special promotions or contractual entitlements. Please check with your network provider.
M-Banking - you will be charged based on your network provider's standard data or WAP charging - please talk to your network provider about this. The initial one-off cost, as at April 2007, to download the application will be approximately 63 cents on Vodafone and approximately $3.20 on Telecom (prices may vary).
Costs to use the M-Banking application will vary depending on how many functions you perform in any one session, and on the data or WAP pricing charges from your network provider. Data is only passed when you make a request - i.e. request a mini-statement, request a transfer. Contact your network provider for request-specific costs.
Aren't texts covered by my 'free text' plan?
No. You will be charged the normal text fee by your mobile provider. TXT Banking texts are business-to-business texts and are not covered by your Vodafone free-text weekend or $10 Telecom plan or other contractual arrangements.
How much does it cost to download M-Banking?
This will vary depending on your data plan. As at April 2007, you should expect to pay around 65c for the download with Vodafone and around $3.20 for the download with Telecom.
How much does it cost to use M-Banking?
That will depend on the fees charged by your network provider as well as how many requests you make in any one M-Banking session. Contact your network provider for request-specific costs.

Can I ring 0800 ANZ MOBI from my mobile phone?
Yes. You can call 0800 ANZ MOBI from your mobile phone to register and to make any changes to your ANZ Mobile Phone Banking set-up.
What if there are network issues?
If coverage is unavailable, the system is overloaded or there are other network issues you may experience delays or not be able to access ANZ Mobile Phone Banking. These things are outside our control, and you should discuss any problems with your mobile network provider.
