The ANZ Travel Card is the easier, more convenient way to carry foreign currency overseas. It's a reloadable pre-paid MasterCard® that allows you to spend in the local currency. Loss or theft

Currencies and denominations

The ANZ Travel Card is available in four different currencies, Australian and US Dollars, Euros, and British Pounds.


Conversion in New Zealand

When you return home, any remaining funds can be converted back to New Zealand Dollars and refunded. This conversion will be subject to the exchange rate on the day.

ANZ Foreign Currency Cash

When you're travelling, it is sensible to carry cash in the currency of the country you're visiting, to cover any incidental expenses. ANZ deals in the major currencies of the world, but if you're going to a number of countries, or if we don't stock the currency you're looking for, you may wish to take some United States dollars with you. These are widely accepted and easy to exchange. Our staff can organise the cash you need.

Cash in the currency of your destination is convenient and can be readily used to purchase goods and services.

If you're carrying a currency that isn't the local currency, you should be able to convert it at most major banks at your destination.


Loss or theft

Remember, if you lose your foreign cash, it is gone and cannot be replaced. Never carry too much on you at any one time.


Currencies and denominations

ANZ can supply you with cash in more than 20 currencies, with a range of denominations available.

Australian, British, Euro and US foreign cash is regularly on hand at ANZ branches. Other currencies can be ordered in for you.


Conversion in New Zealand

Accepted notes can be converted back to New Zealand dollars at any ANZ branch when you return.

American Express Travellers Cheques

Travellers cheques are a secure way of carrying funds with you when you travel. ANZ provides you with American Express Travellers Cheques, which are recognised throughout the world.

Travellers cheques are convenient and easy to use.

American Express Travellers Cheques are accepted worldwide in around 80,000 shops, hotels and banks. It pays to shop around as some retailers or banks may charge a fee. To find out where you can cash your cheques fee-free while overseas, visit americanexpress.co.nz before you leave.

Undated travellers cheques do not expire.


Loss or theft

You can generally replace lost or stolen American Express Travellers Cheques within 24 hours. ANZ will hand you a receipt from American Express at the time of sale, which has all the details on how to claim if your cheques are lost or stolen. Claims are handled 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Contact American Express immediately if your Travellers Cheques are lost or stolen.
