With your ANZ credit card and your personal identification Number (PIN), you can access your accounts in New Zealand and around the world. However, it's important to keep your card and your PIN secure. Try following these simple steps:
Protecting your ANZ credit card
- When you receive your card, sign the strip on the back straight away.
- Don't let anyone else use your card.
- Protect your card from loss or theft.
- When you card expires, destroy it by cutting it in half through the magnetic strip.
Protecting your PIN
- Don't let anyone else know your PIN – even family, friends, bank staff or others in apparent authority.
- Don't let anyone else see your PIN when you enter it at an ATM, EFTPOS machine or other electronic terminal.
- Don't write or in any way indicate your PIN on your card, even if you try to disguise it.
- Memorise your PIN. Don't write it down anywhere.
- Choose a PIN that won't be easily identified. For example, don't use your birth date or phone number, or PIN that has an easy combination, such as 1111 or 1234.
- Don't use a PIN that you're using for other purposes (eg. Your mobile phone's PIN).
