Opening an account for children
If you're under seven:
You cannot withdraw money from your account or appoint an agent to withdraw money on your behalf.
If a parent or guardian wishes to make withdrawals from an account belonging to a child under seven years old, the account must be opened 'in trust' and operated in the best interests of the child.
If you're between seven and 14:
You can have signing authority on your Youth Account as long as you have the written consent of a parent or guardian.
You can apply for an ANZ Night & Day card and Phone and Internet Banking, as long as a parent or guardian signs the indemnity form.
Parents and guardians of children over the age of seven may not make withdrawals from their children's accounts, except in exceptional circumstances and at ANZ's discretion.
If you're 15 or older:
You can operate your account independently
