ANZ management

ANZ in New Zealand is led by a group of the organisation's most senior managers who are responsible for the long-term success of the company.

Chief Executive Dr Jenny Fagg leads the Executive Management Team in New Zealand.

Jenny is responsible for ANZ's New Zealand business, based in Wellington. Prior to taking up the role in May 2009, Jenny was Managing Director for NZ Retail Distribution, responsible for the two retail banking franchises - ANZ and The National Bank.

Wayne Besant

Managing Director, ANZ Retail Distribution

Wayne's responsibility encompasses the Personal, Business Banking, Mortgages, Brokers and Alliances divisions for ANZ Retail in New Zealand. Since joining ANZ in 1987 at the Panmure Branch in Auckland, Wayne has built a strong foundation in both the personal and business banking segments. Previous roles include General Manager ANZ Distribution, and Head of ANZ Business (NZ) where he was responsible for the ANZ Business Banking and Rural businesses in New Zealand.

David Green

David Green
Managing Director, Institutional

David leads the Institutional business in New Zealand, comprising the business units focused on Institutional Client Relationships, Transactional Banking & Specialised Lending, Markets and Balance Sheet Management. He has more than 20 years experience in the finance and banking sector in senior advisory, underwriting and markets roles.

Graham Turley

Graham Turley
Managing Director, Commercial

Graham leads the Commercial business in New Zealand, representing teams that focus on delivering relationship management to customers in the corporate, property construction finance and commercial sectors, including UDC Finance. Graham has more than 20 years experience in corporate finance and debt capital markets and has been involved in many of New Zealand's complex corporate finance transactions.

John Body

John Body
Managing Director, Private Banking and Wealth

John is responsible for building the Private Banking and Wealth business in New Zealand. John brings with him a wealth of knowledge and leadership experience having worked for ANZ's markets business for 22 years, holding a variety of senior positions in Singapore, Melbourne and New Zealand.

Charlie Graham

Charlie Graham
General Manager, Rural

Our Rural Banking business is New Zealand's leading provider of rural financial services. Charlie has led the Rural Banking business since ANZ's acquisition of The National Bank of New Zealand in 2003. He was previously General Manager Rural Banking for The National Bank of New Zealand, a role he held since 1996.

Steven Fyfe

Steven Fyfe
Managing Director, Marketing, Strategy and Customer Solutions

Steven is responsible for the marketing, product management, customer segmentation, communication and strategy function for the New Zealand businesses. He is also a Director of ANZ's joint venture partner ING New Zealand. Prior to this, he was Chief Operating Officer for ANZ National and Managing Director of ANZ Retail Banking (New Zealand).

Richard Wilks

Richard Wilks
Chief Risk Officer

Richard oversees all areas of risk across the New Zealand business, including the organisation's risk strategies, policies and processes and monitoring the effectiveness of the Risk Management Framework. He joined the organisation as Chief Risk Officer in January 2006 and has 25 years experience in the banking industry throughout New Zealand, Australia and Asia, including senior roles at Standard Chartered Bank, Citibank Australia and Citibank New Zealand.

Leanne Lazarus

Leanne Lazarus
General Manager, Operations

Leanne manages the core support division, and is responsible for providing operational support to the Retail, Business and Rural business segments for both the ANZ and The National Bank brands across New Zealand. Leanne's previous roles include Head of the Lending Services Centre and Head of Strategic Projects within Corporate and Commercial Banking. Leanne started her career in banking in South Africa, where she held various roles across project and change management, lending, investments and customer services.

Felicity Evans

Felicity Evans
General Manager, Human Resources

Felicity is responsible for leading the development of people management strategies, practices and policies to support business performance. Throughout her career, Felicity has been responsible for developing and implementing a range of HR strategies and initiatives which include leading a change management project to support the merger of the Investment Banking divisions of the ANZ and The National Bank and establishing the ANZ Banking on Women Network to address diversity issues.

Peter Lawrence

Chief Information Officer

Peter is responsible for the delivery of all technology to the New Zealand business with a key focus of ensuring the day-to-day continuity of service delivery. Peter joined ANZ in April 2007 as the Head of Infrastructure, Enterprise Services based in Melbourne before taking on his current role in June 2008.

Fiona Brown

Chief of Staff for the CEO's Office

Fiona is responsible for key internal and external relationships and activity on behalf of the CEO. Fiona's previous position was Associate General Counsel for the corporate office team, where she had been since 2004. She is a lawyer with more than 18 years' experience, including roles at Chapman Tripp and as a business manager at TOWER Trust Limited.

The Board is responsible for the governance and overall direction of the organisation, considering the needs of shareholders, staff and the community.

Sir Dryden Spring

Chairman

Sir Dryden Spring was appointed as Chairman in April 2007 having formerly served as a director of The National Bank. Sir Dryden holds a number of directorships including Fletcher Building Limited, Sky City Entertainment Group Limited, Northport Limited and Port of Tauranga Limited. He is also a trustee of the New Zealand Business and Parliamentary Trust. Sir Dryden has made a significant contribution to corporate and rural New Zealand throughout his career. He was awarded the New Zealand 1990 Commemoration Medal and in 1994 was made KBE for his services to the dairy industry and to New Zealand.

Jenny is responsible for ANZ Banking Group's New Zealand subsidiary, based in Wellington. Prior to taking up the role in May 2009, Jenny was Managing Director for NZ Retail Distribution, responsible for the two retail banking franchises - ANZ and The National Bank. Before transferring to NZ in early 2008, Jenny was the Managing Director, Consumer Finance, responsible for Credit Cards, Merchant Services and Contact Centres. Earlier roles included Managing Director Credit Cards and General Manager Risk Management and Personal Loans. Prior to joining the ANZ in 2000, Jenny developed a consulting practice in credit risk and customer profitability at KPMG. Before this, she held General Management roles in most functions of Retail Banking, from sales to risk management, at Citibank.

Mike Smith

Chief Executive Officer (Group)

Mike is Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited. Until June 2007, Mike was President and CEO of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited, as well as Chairman of Hang Seng Bank Limited; Global Head of Commercial Banking for the HSBC Group and Chairman of HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad.

Peter Marriott

Chief Financial Officer (Group)

Peter Marriott is the Chief Financial Officer for Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited. Peter is responsible for all aspects of Group Financial Management including control of the structure of ANZ's balance sheet, finance management information systems and performance management. The Group Financial Management unit comprises Finance Shared Services, Group Legal and Company Secretary's Office, Group Performance Management, Group Taxation, Group Treasury and Investor Relations. Peter has been involved in the finance industry for more than 20 years. He joined ANZ in 1993 as General Manager, Group Accounting.

Norman Geary

Director

Previously a director of The National Bank, Norman Geary has continued to serve as a director on the board. Norman has considerable corporate experience having held senior management positions with BP in New Zealand, Nigeria and in the UK/Europe. After his role as Chief Executive Officer of Air New Zealand he continued to be heavily involved in the aviation and tourism industries. He was made CBE in 1991 for contributions to New Zealand aviation and tourism. He currently holds governance roles and directorships in Rio Tinto New Zealand Advisory Committee, DB Breweries Limited, Fisher and Paykel Appliances Limited, Otago Innovation Limited and the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research.

Don Brash

Don Brash
Director

Dr Don Brash was appointed a director in 2007. Don was Governor of the Reserve Bank for 14 years, from 1988. Under his governorship, the Reserve Bank established a new model of the relationship between government and central bank, now enshrined in the Reserve Bank Act 1989, and reduced inflation to low single figures. Many banknotes in circulation still carry Don's signature from his term as Governor. After leaving the Reserve Bank in 2002, Don was elected to Parliament, and was leader of the National Party from 2003 to 2006.

John Judge

John Judge
Director

John Judge was appointed as an independent non-executive director in December 2008. Formerly a chief executive of Ernst and Young New Zealand, John has considerable experience in Australasian business and brings extensive financial and analytical knowledge to the board. He is a director of Fletcher Building Limited and is Chairman of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Chairman of the Auckland Art Gallery Foundation and a member of the Auckland and Otago University Business Schools' advisory boards.

Shayne Elliott

Shayne Elliott
Director

Shayne Elliott was appointed as a non-executive director in August 2009. Shayne is also Managing Director, Institutional of the ANZ group of companies. A career banker, he took up his current position, and joined ANZ's Board, in June 2009 having spent more than twenty years at Citigroup. Before joining ANZ, Shayne was Head of Business Development for EFG Hermes, the largest investment bank in the Middle East.
