If you plan to stay in New Zealand for six months or more, we can help you open an ANZ account in New Zealand before you leave home, so you’ll have ready access to your money when you arrive.
We recommend setting up your new account(s) before you plan to arrive in New Zealand, and our New Resident Services team can help with this.To find out which account is right for you and the applicable fees for that account, contact our team on newresidentservices@anz.com.
Once your ANZ account is set up, you can transfer money into it whenever you like. That way, you’ll have easy access to cash when you arrive in New Zealand. To transfer funds, simply make an International Money Transfer from your home county. If you are UK based, you can transfer up to the equivalent of NZ$1 million into your new ANZ account(s) before you arrive in New Zealand. If you wish to transfer more, please contact the New Resident Services team (Unfortunately, we cannot accept cash or cheque payments until you arrive in New Zealand.)
The bank you will be transferring funds from will be able to advise you on the International Money Transfer process and the fees they charge in connection with the transfer. ANZ may charge a standard fee to accept an inward International Money Transfer payment. To find out if this applies to you, contact newresidentservices@anz.com.
To withdraw or transfer money from your new ANZ account, you will need to activate it by visiting an ANZ branch in New Zealand and satisfying the identification and signing authority requirements. See more information about how to activate your account in New Zealand.
To help you get set up sooner, you may be able to apply for other ANZ banking products like an ANZ pre-approved home loan or foreign currency account, before you leave.
Talk to our New Resident Services team to find out more information.
ANZ eligibility criteria, lending criteria, terms, conditions and fees apply. ANZ pre-approved home loans are subject to conditions. View a copy of the current Disclosure Statement published by ANZ National Bank Limited, or call into any branch to request a copy.
