Frequently Asked Questions for new ANZ Customers

How do I arrange to move my salary to my new ANZ account?

It's as simple as printing and filling in a salary load form (PDF, 35kb) then giving it to your employer. They'll change your payroll details and direct your salary to your ANZ account.

How do I move my existing payments from my previous account to my new ANZ account?

Automatic Payments

Automatic Payments (APs) are a convenient way to make regular, fixed-amount payments (like rent). Just choose the set-up method below that suits you (you'll need to be the only signatory on your account) and don't forget to cancel any existing automatic payments on your previous account.

Service fees may apply for setting up, amending and/or suspending automatic payments; view more information on service fees.

Direct Debits

Direct debits (DDs) are authorised by you and set up by the organisation you're paying. DDs are used to ask ANZ for payments from your account, either regularly or as required, and in pre-set or changing amounts.

To change a direct debit, you need to fill out a direct debit form with your new bank details, sign it and give it to the organisation you're paying.

Don't forget to advise your bank and the organisation to cancel the existing direct debit.

Here are direct debit forms for some of New Zealand's most well-known organisations:

Pay Anyone

If you'd like to manage your payments online, Pay Anyone (available through ANZ Internet Banking) enables you to make one-off or recurring payments to accounts at any registered New Zealand bank. You have a limit of $1,000 per business day, but you can request an increase if you need it. If you don't see a limit confirmation on your Pay Anyone page, please call 0800 103 123.

Pay Bills

Alternatively, you can use Pay Bills to make regular or one-off payments to most of New Zealand's larger companies – you decide how much you want to pay and when you want to pay it. Pay Bills' pre-set fields make it simple and quick to pay over 3,000 organisations. To set up your payees, call ANZ Phone Direct on 0800 103 123.

How can I move money from my former bank to my new ANZ account?

The easiest way is to transfer it through ANZ Internet Banking – or you can deposit a cheque into your new ANZ account.

Remember to make sure you have no payments due before transferring money to your ANZ account – and to close your previous account to avoid any fees.
